Hello
I just had to share this new tool with you - I'm not quite sure how it can be used yet but it's gorgeous.
It's called Wordle and creates word clouds from things you write.
Have a look at one I've just created from an article I've written about you, the BFLG!

Enjoy it.

OK
Now I've thought of some practical ways to use Wordle!

Some quick ideas based on our 6 step learning process:

Motivation – send a precourse wordle with key information and ask people to identify what they particularly want to learn.
Absorb – word clouds are visually more attractive and interesting than a list, so make a wordle of items to learn - wordles have colour and dimension which both help to improve memory.
Search for meaning - create a word search activity - people have to search the wordle for specific words or phrases
Test of learning – ask people to rearrange a wordle (which is random) into a prioritised list - useful for anything that needs a specific order to be learnt
Exhibit learning – provide groups with a wordle and ask them to highlight the key points - you could even turn it into a competition with prizes.
Review of learning – people create their own wordles a week after a workshop to review what they've learnt and then create a gallery of their shared learning

Let me know what you do

Hi Stella. I too love this little tool and the images it creates. I thought of another use too. How about a different way of analysing articles, letters, presentations or web sites to see if it they are sending the messages you want them to send.
